Emmalena Huning - Michael Hill International - NZ
The Michael Hill International Violin Competition, held biennially in Queenstown, New Zealand is one of the top violin competitions in the world. Established in 2001 by entrepreneur and passionate violinist, New Zealander Sir Michael Hill, it is New Zealand’s most prestigious classical music competition.
The “Michael Hill” is one of the most sought-after international violin prizes and where the careers of future musical legends are launched:
“Over eight days, a feast of spellbinding acts of virtuosity, heartstring-tugging treasures and heroic masterpieces are performed by the top 16 of the world’s finest young violinists.”
To win a place in the prestigious “Michael Hill” is a huge achievement in itself. The competition is a global call to the top emerging violinists in the world. Then the lengthy selection process is held over three rounds, with the identities of the applicants not revealed to the international panel of selectors until the final round.
Emmalena Huning won a place in the 2019 competition.
Our very own Emmalena was the youngest global finalist!
