MetSO Young Artist Aaron Dungey

Young Perth Violist Aaron Dungey stepped onto the MetSO stage for our 2019 Autumn Concert.

Aaron played violin before commencing viola lessons at Churchlands Senior High School. He was taught by Tzvi Friedl and Kierstan Arkleysmith, and learnt much from their instruction, advice and encouragement.

In 2018, Aaron received the

Paul McGeorge Memorial Prize for
Most Outstanding String Player
and the
Top Instrumental Student Award at Churchlands SHS.


His mark of 100% in the Year 12 WACE examination resulted in him being awarded the

SSTUWA IMSS 2018 ATAR Prize

and he has subsequently won UWA’s prestigious

Delano Music Prize/Scholarship

Aaron has commenced a Bachelor of Arts (Music Studies / Music Specialist Studies) under the tutelage of Sally Boud.

Aaron is a member of the WA Charity Orchestra and the WA Youth Orchestra, has performed with UWA’s Chamber Orchestra and WAAPA’s Faith Court Orchestra, and has twice attended the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp.

Although on a temporary break from hockey and cricket, Aaron continues to enjoy playing ultimate Frisbee, running and spending time with friends.
